On the above date while taking his children home from school Deputy Chief Joe Dierolf, noticed a large column of smoke in the Gordy Estates neighborhood. After further investigation, Deputy Chief Dierolf found a working house fire on Harwood Rd. Deputy Chief Dierolf quickly notified NCC fireboard of a house with smoke showing at 800 Harwood Rd. This alerted Station 23, Engine 17, Rescue 30, Ladder 28,  and Station 21 for the RIT. Engine 232 quickly hit the road with a crew of 4 under command of Asst Chief Elliott. Upon arrival of E232, the crew stretched an 1 3/4 handling inside the single family dwelling to begin extinguishment of the fire. Engine 175 laid 500ft of 4in supply line into E232. Ladder 28 preformed vertical ventilation. Due to a great knock down of the initial hand-line, the bulk of the fire was held to one bedroom. Chief Young had command.
