Duty Crew Night Turns to a Steady Night on the Interstate
Wednesday, November 7, 2018

Overnight on Wednesday, November 7, Station 23 was staffed with eleven volunteers for our weekly Area 7 Duty Crew night. The night started with an MVC response on Route 1 in 12's area, followed by a residential fire alarm in 19's area. Both assignments were quickly scaled back while Rescue and Squad 23 were still enroute. At 2247 hours, Rescue and Squad 23 along with Rescue Engine and Ladder 12 made the response to Interstate 95 Northbound in the area of Churchmans Marsh for an MVC with a rollover. Units arrived to find one on it's roof with no entrapment. Approximately 10 minutes later an auto fire was dispatched to the service area. Rescue Engine 12, Ladder 12, and Squad 23 cleared the crash and redirected to the fire. Upon arrival crews had fire from a coach bus, with reports of people going onto the bus to get their luggage. The members of Rescue Engine 12 and Squad 23 each placed handlines inservice, while Ladder 12's crew provided searches and ventilation. All aparratus returned to quarters within an hour. The duty crew finished the night by responding to a first due fire alarm in the early morning.
