On the above date, at around 0620hrs Station 23 was alerted for the Rescue to assist Station 14 on a building fire in the area of Newport Gap Pike and Old Capitol Trail. Rescue Engine 23 with a crew of 4 under the command of Captain Mills quickly responded. Fire Chief 21 arrived and reported "smoke showing". Rescue Engine 23 arrived shortly after and took the First Due Special Services responsibilites. The crew entered and completed a primary search of the structure along with opening up for the Engine Company. Crews found the fire to be focused in the ceiling area and extinguished the same. Rescue Engine 23 operated for around 1.5 hours before clearing.
