First Due Building Fire
Thursday, October 22, 2015

On the above date, just before 1300hrs, Station 23 along with surrounding companies were alerted to respond to the First State Plaza Shopping Center on West Newport Pike for a building fire.  Rescue Engine 23 with a crew of 5 under the command of Fire Chief Dierolf responded.  Rescue Engine 23 arrived to find an electrical box on fire on the rear of the building.  Rescue Engine 23 and Ladder 12 stood by in the rear waiting for the power to be secured, while Engine 30 and Ladder 17 checked the businesses for occupants and extension.  After the power was secured, the crew of Rescue Engine 23 extinguished the remaining fire with a C02 extinguisher.  There was no extension to the building and units began to clear shortly after.  Fire Chief Dierolf had the "Newport Command".
