On the above date, just before 0500hrs, Station 17 along with surrounding companies were alerted to the 600 block of Homestead Road in Alban Park for the report of an apartment fire. Shortly after, Police Department resources arrived and reported "fire showing" and a person trapped on the second floor. This added Rescue Engine 23 on the call as the Rapid Intervention Company. Rescue Engine 23 with crew of 5 under the command of Captain Mills responded in under a minute. Rescue Engine 23 arrived and was advised by command to assume the Rapid Intervention duties. Interior crews found an unconscious victim on the second floor and removed the same. Rescue Engine 23 stood by for around 1.5 hours before being released by command.
