First Due House Fire
Wednesday, April 6, 2016

On the above date, just after 1330hrs Station 23 along Engines 17, 30, Ladder 17 and Rescue 14 were alerted to the 100 block of Harding Avenue in the Silview section of the first due for a reported house fire.  Engine 235 with a crew of 5 under the command of Fire Chief Dierolf quickly responded.  Engine 235 arrived and reported "smoke showing" from a one story single family dwelling, this making it a "working fire" which brought Engine 21 (RIT) and Ladder 16.  The crew of 235 stretched a 1 3/4 inch hand line and extinguished a fire in the kitchen.  Crews operated for approximately 2 hours before clearing the scene.  Chief Dierolf had the "Newport Command".
