On the above date, just after 0600hrs, station 23 along with various mutual aid companies were dispatched to the unit block of State Street in Tuxedo Park for a reported house on fire. Seconds after dispatch Deputy Fire Chief 16 (Elsmere) arrived and advised that he had fire showing from a two story garage with an apartment on top. Engine 235 with a crew of 5 under the command of Captain Mills quickly responded. Engine 235 arrived secured a water supply and deployed a 300' hand line and began knocking down fire on the first floor. Rescue 23 along with Engine 14 arrived and deployed a second hand line to extinguish fire on the second floor. Ladder 12 arrived and assisted the crew of Rescue 23 with completing a primary search of the apartment. Engine 21 and Ladder 28 stood by as the Rapid Intervention Team. Engines 16, 17, and 30 also operated on the fire ground. Crews operated for around 3 hours before clearing the scene. Chief Dierolf had the "Newport Command"
