On Saturday, June 16, Engine, Rescue, and Squad 23 traveled to West Chester, PA to attend a live burn training session utilzing the fire department's training center. Ten members from Newport attended the drill, which included approximately 20 burn evolutions. Delaware County Engine 24 (East Lansdowne) covered our response area for approximately eight hours while our members trained. At approximately 1830 hours, Rescue 23 (Mills) responded to assist Christiana on an MVC with a rollover on Interstate 95 Northbound at the Route 7 offramp. The Rescue and Ambulance arrived to find one vehicle overturned with no entrapment, but multiple patients. Units operated for about an hour for returning to quarters. The Company responded to three box alarms, five crashes, two fire alarms, three medical emergencies, and one public assist this weekend.
