On the above date, at around 0240hrs, Station 22 along with surrounding companies were alerted to respond to the 1000 block of South Hield Street for a Commercial Building Fire.  Engine 22 arrived and reported heavy smoke showing from a commercial building.  This report brought Ambulance 23 to the scene for the BLS stand-by.  Shorlty there after, command reported that there were heavy fire conditions in a warehouse which held large ammounts of recyclable materials and requested the second alarm.  Rescue Engine 23 was due on the second alarm and responded under the command of Captain Mills.  RE23 arrived and was instructed by command to assist units on the interior with breaking up the piles of material to expose hidden fire.  RE23 operated for around 2 hours before being cleared by command.
