Rescue Handles Overturned Tractor Trailer

On the above date around 0115 hrs, Station 23 along with Station 22 (Minquadale) and NCC paramedics were dispatched to Interstate 95 Southbound in the area of West Basin Rd. for a Motor Vehicle Collision reported with a rollover. Rescue 23 responded quickly with a crew of 6 under the command of Fire Chief Dierolf along with Ambulance 23. Units arrived on scene to find a Tractor Trailer on its side with large amounts of Diesel Fuel leaking onto the roadway. "Newport Command" quickly requested Hazmat 30 (Belvedere) and DNREC (Department of Resources and Enviormental Control) to assist with the leak. Rescue 23 operated for approxamitley 2 hours clenaing up debris, leaking fuel, and large pieces of guardrail in the road. The scene was put under control and was turned over to the Delaware State Police.
