On Sunday 03/25/2018 just before 0500hrs, Rescue 23 was dispatched as part of the building fire assignment to assist Station 21 at the Astro Shopping center in the 3600 block of Kirkwood Highway.  Command 21 arrived and reported a single story commercial strip shopping center with fire showing from the roof.  Rescue 23 arrived as the second special service and the crew split.  Part of the crew operated on the roof assisting with extinguishing fire on the roof, and opening up to stop fire spread.  The interior crew forced entry through the rear and assisted with opening up on the interior to check for fire extension.  Rescue 23 operated for around an hour before being cleared by command.
