Throughout the first weekend of June the Newport Volunteers were kept busy handling calls for service in our response area, as well as our mutual aid areas. These responses included four reported fires, Engine 23 responded to two of these and Rescue 23 responded to three. On Friday, the Engine landed the first due assignment in Company 17's local. The crew stretched the four hundred foot 1.75" line upon arrival, this line is a new additional to both the Engine and Squad. The Rescue also handled two crashes in the first due, one of which involved injuries to five occupant. The Engine responded to an accident involiving multiple vehicles in 14's area. While our volunteers handled these responses, four members also attended class at the Delaware State Fire School this weekend.
